Aldo Cella,
PhD (Founder)
Graduated at Università di Genova as Civil Engineer.
Attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as Ford fellow:
he obtained a Master in Civil Engineering (1966), and a PhD (1968);
he was one of the developers of STRUDL, the first Finite Element program.
Senior Engineer at Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger, Boston:
design of large radar antennas
Consultant at C.S.Draper Laboratory, Boston support of the Hubble optical telescope
Upon return to Italy ,he covered the twin positions of:
Head Research Scientist at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
Professor at Università di Pisa, Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Informazione.
In the early 80s he left public service to start an engineering firm: Espri-Marc, together with Prof.s O.C.Zienkiewicz and P.Marcal, founders of Marc Analysis in PaloAlto (Cal),
a Software Houses world-leader in the field of engineering computation.
For two decades Espri-Marc has been on the wavefront of software development and of consulting across many branches of advanced engineering: nuclear, aeronautic, space, vehicles,
naval military, composites, process simulation, etc.
Over 200 projects have been completed, leading always to useful results.
In 1999 Espri-Marc was incorporated into MSC Software, the world-largest Software House in the field of MCAE (Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering).
Dr. Aldo Cella held the position of Technical Director of MSC Italy, until 2001.
In 2001 he left MSC, begun the development of the Cellular Algorithms Software, and started the homonymous Company.
Dr. Aldo Cella authors over 150 papers. He was invited to hold seminars in several prestigious Institutions, among them:
NASA Langley, General Motors Research Laboratories, MIT, etc.
He has been member of the Editorial Boards of:
International Journal of Numerical Methods in Engineering (Wiley), Engineering Computation (Pineridge Press).
